Sharkstooth Scrim is the industry standard for reveal effects. It works by using various lighting angles, from front and back, transforming stages by allowing light to be reflected or to pass through it depending on how spotlights are set up on the front or back of the scrim. When only lit from the side at a sharp angle, with the back of the scrim kept dark, the curtain is opaque. When the scene behind is fully lit then the scrim becomes virtually transparent. Using a combination of lighting applications can create reveal, disappearing and bleed-through effects. Sophisticated staging can also incorporate projections and combine ghostly type appearances in front and behind the scrim.

IFR Sharkstooth Scrim allows outdoor applications due to its inherently flame retardant properties. Undyed Leno can be painted and used as a projection surface although it should be pointed out that the fabric must be treated with FR chemicals before being used. The fabric is a filled scrim with a soft textured appearance which diffuses and balances light. Cycloramas are used as bounce backdrops which utilize the aesthetic qualities for projecting visual lighting effects. This fabric is ideal where scenery needs to be folded for transporting to other venues as creases and wrinkles fall out after being re-hung.
